We’re down to the last few episodes of the BlackBlogsMatter / BlackPodsMatter challenge, and today, I’m talking about Trusting News Sources.
First things first—I limit how much news I consume. Watching too much of it messes with my spirit and triggers stress and anxiety. And I’m not alone—Mental Health America found that constant exposure to negative news activates our fight-or-flight response, which is bad for our mental well-being.
Second, finding news we can trust is harder than ever. Censorship is increasing. Journalists are being banned. Critical data is being erased from government websites. We are drowning in reactionary posts and think pieces instead of facts that help us make informed decisions.
So how do we separate fact from fiction? I break it down with four key questions to help you evaluate whether a news source is credible. Because the truth is, not everyone with a platform is a journalist. And we cannot afford to be misinformed.
